Cape Town is a true fan favorite, with its exciting Mediterranean vibe, amazing culinary scene, beautiful Cape Dutch architecture, thriving art community, and successful sports teams – all set to the backdrop of iconic Table Mountain and the turbulent waters of the Atlantic Ocean. It is no wonder it is called The Mother City. This vibrant, trendy city has broad appeal. Local attractions include Table Mountain, Robben Island, the V&A Waterfront, Bo-Kaap, boutique shops, numerous museums, wineries, and world famous restaurants. For those venturing beyond the city, the Cape Winelands and Cape Peninsula are a day trip away.
Cape Town’s rich cultural heritage dates back more than 300 years and its diversity is evident in the city’s architecture, art, and food. It is the second most populous city in South Africa and sits at the southwest tip of Africa.
Set in the vibrant heart of Cape Town’s waterfront, surrounded by restaurants, shopping, art and entertainment; on the doorstep of Table Mountain; and within easy reach of spectacular beaches, national parks, and Winelands, One&Only Cape Town is a tranquil enclave surrounded by mesmerising waterways and a traditional harbour.
Guests can choose between spectacular balcony views of Table Mountain or of the resort’s private Marina and waterways, from the largest hotel rooms in Cape Town. The One&Only Cape Town’s curated selection of restaurants and bars sparkle with unmistakable vibrancy. Guests can savour exceptional cuisine and rare wines in the most stylish spaces in town
All 39 Marina Table Mountain Rooms in the crescent-shaped Marina rise building, offer exceptional views from a large private balcony of Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain. Each has undergone an extensive interior refurbishment, crafted using thoughtful textures and organic materials, working to create not only a space, but a whole experience and story. Enter and be greeted by warm lighting, an earthy colour scheme and a mud cloth adorned entrance, whose fabric inspired by the traditional Mali creates an authentically African welcome. The space is a perfect blend of nature and design, modernity, and tradition.
Cape Town is consistently ranked among the Top 10 cities in the world to visit by the likes of Condé Nast Traveler and Travel+Leisure magazine. The ‘Mother City’, as it is affectionately known, is a colorful and vibrant city surrounded by dramatic mountains and sandy beaches. The magic of Cape Town lies in the collision of natural wonder, diverse cultures, art, design and a thriving food and wine scene.
Be immersed in the culture of the Cape Malay people, and learn about their history, traditions and how their ancestors came to be in the Cape. Start by walking the streets of Bo Kaap, before being invited to visit with one of the resident families in their home, where you’ll enjoy a cooking lesson with them before sitting down to enjoy a two-course traditional Cape Malay lunch – which they have helped to prepare
Robben Island, the unique symbol of ‘the triumph of the human spirit over adversity, suffering and injustice’ has a 500 years old multi-layered history and is visited every year by thousands of people eager to understand and honour the important aspects of South Africa’s evolution that the Island represents. Enjoy a Private Robben Island Tour with Christo Brand onboard. Nelson Mandela’s ex-prison warder, Christo became a close friend of the Mandela family. A qualified guide, he will walk you through the various aspects of the Robben Island tour with the added insight acquired during this long-standing relationship.
Start with the drive along the Atlantic Seaboard through the opulent suburbs of Bantry Bay, Clifton, and Camps Bay
through Hout Bay towards Chapman’s Peak Drive. One of the most spectacular marine drives in the world and affectionately known by the locals as ‘Chappies’ , it is a must for anyone passionate about natural scenery. The twists and curves in the road seem endless and it is a photographer’s dream and a paradise for sightseers.
Visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. At the tip of the Cape Peninsula and 60 km south-west of Cape Town, the reserve falls within the Table Mountain National Park, a declared Natural World Heritage Site. Encompassing 7750 hectares of varied flora and fauna it abounds with buck, baboons and Cape Mountain Zebra, as well as over 250 species of birds. Ascend to the lighthouse, and pause at the southwestern tip of the African continent.
Continue to Boulders Beach to meet the African penguins. The story of the African penguins is one of the most remarkable urban colonization. The penguin colony in Simonstown started in 1983 when a pair was spotted on Foxy Beach at Boulders. The birds arrived at False Bay from Dyer Island. At the time, False Bay was closed to commercial fishing and the newcomers enjoyed abundant food and unlimited breeding sites, with the African penguin population at Boulders soaring. Today they continue to delight, and it’s a well-known fact that time in the company of these adorable birds is guaranteed to make you smile.
Enjoy lunch at Foodbarn and afterward, enjoy some time walking around the charming Kalk Bay – a popular seaside village known for great shopping and its working harbour with rather obnoxious resident seals. The village is home to a theatre, art galleries, an independent bookshop, a renowned bakery, antique shops and so much more
End the day with a stop at Muizenberg beach, the Surfer’s Corner, where the photogenic and colourful washhouses line the beach.
The coastal stretch between Muizenberg and St. James railway station was once known as Cape Town’s Golden Mile, and today still makes for a wonderful area to explore on foot. Historic buildings, and homes clinging to the mountain side, the railway line that hugs the shoreline and the endless coffee shops and stores, tidal pools and beaches will make you want to linger.
Your wine tour will take you through the wine regions of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek with wine tastings, chocolate pairings, and cellar tours. Explore the beautiful town of Franschhoeh and enjoy lunch at the renown Cavalli Estate in the outer vineyards of Stellenbosch.
Thornybush Game Reserve is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and is famed for its huge variety of wildlife including the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. This 34,500 acre private reserve recently dropped fences with its neighbors, allowing animals to move freely across a huge expanse of protected wilderness. Being in the private reserve affords guests an exclusive game viewing experience, with a limited number of lodges and visitors. This allows for intimate, uncrowded encounters with wildlife.
The game density is excellent, especially lion and leopard, and guests are able to get as close to the action as possible. Bush walks and night drives offer an exciting way to encounter wildlife

Johannesburg, affectionately referred to by locals as “Jozi” or “Joburg,” is the largest city in South Africa and one of the 50 largest urban areas in the world. Though not traditionally a tourist destination, Johannesburg is a transit point for connecting domestic and international flights and has become a cultural hub, with museums, theaters, art galleries, and libraries. There are opportunities for shopping at upmarket shopping centers like Sandton City, the Mall of Africa, and Nelson Mandela Square and, for souvenirs and African art, at flea markets like Oriental Plaza and the Rosebank Flea Market.
Johannesburg is the home of the Constitutional Court, the highest court in South Africa, and tours to the Apartheid Museum often combine a visit to Constitution Hill. Other attractions include former townships like Alexandra and Soweto where visitors learn about South Africa’s apartheid history. The Mandela Museum, located in the former home of Nelson Mandela, is located in Soweto.
Set in the leafy residential neighborhood of Melrose, The Peech is renowned for discreet personal service. It offers a haven of tranquility in striking contrast to Joburg’s unique identity as a large and bustling African city.
Originally a family residence, the heritage features of the main house have since been lovingly restored as the hotel’s main entrance and operational hub. Today The Peech offers 32 modern and well-appointed guest rooms, each overlooking two acres of lush and largely indigenous gardens.
With an interior style described as ‘understated Afri-chic,’ the hotel is infused with locally inspired design and
craftsmanship. The Peech offers two restaurants, one is an exclusive guest-only bistro serving fresh, light meals throughout the day. The other is a fine dining dinner restaurant called ‘Basalt,’ which is open to both hotel guests and local patrons in the evenings
The Luxury Rooms are 45m² and have ensuite bathrooms with a walk-in rain-dance shower and separate WC area. They feature oak floors and large patios or balconies facing out over the hotel’s lush gardens. Amenities include a minibar fridge, Nespresso machine, TV with streaming facility, and the rooms are air conditioned.
Brace yourself for an eye-opening and emotional visit to the HectorPieterson Museum, a space dedicated to the commemoration of high school students who led a peaceful march that quickly transformed into a mass murder. Take a drive or stroll along Soweto’s visitor-friendly Vilakazi Street, the only street in the world to have housed two Nobel Prize winners. Take note of the public art, especially the Day of the Uprising artwork, as well as memorials and benches that note famous historical sites. Stop at the original Soweto home of Nelson Mandela, the former ‘safe haven’ for the Mandelas and their friends, and imagine how
The town of Victoria Falls lies on the southern banks of the Zambezi River at the western edge of the falls that it is named after. After David Livingstone set his eyes on the “smoke that thunders” in 1855, the settlement was later developed in 1901 when the possibility of using the waterfall for hydro-electric power was explored, and expanded when the railway from Bulawayo reached the town shortly before the Victoria Falls Bridge was opened in April 1905, connecting Southern Rhodesia (later Rhodesia; now Zimbabwe) to Northern Rhodesia (later Zambia).
Vic Falls, as it is affectionately abbreviated to, is known as the adventure capital of Africa, with any number of outdoor and adventure activities to choose from. As well as world-class white water rafting, there is one of the world’s highest bungee jumps, skydiving, swing slides, helicopter rides and more.
Although the town is small, it has a vibrant feel to it with lots of craft shops, pop up craft breweries and cafes, and relies heavily on tourism.
